What You Should Know About Incense Pokemon

Whether it’s to catch new Pokemon or make old ones grow, incense is an important part of any player’s arsenal. But did you know that Incense offers a few other perks as well? From the ability to attract more wild Pokemon to boosting the power of an incense holder’s moves, here are some things you should know about incense pokemon.

In Pokemon GO, players can use the special daily Adventure Incense to attract more Pokemon to their area for 15 minutes as long as they’re moving in the real world. However, this special Incense isn’t as effective as a Lure Module placed at a PokeStop. It’s also worth noting that the Daily Adventure Incense cannot be activated more than once per day.

Other incense items can be acquired from the Slateport Market and various overworld locations. For example, the Lax and Sea Incense are both obtainable at the market’s green canopy in Slateport City and on the third floor of Mt. Pyre’s interior, respectively.

In addition, a player can acquire the Evolution Incense item from the stall in Coumarine City’s Coumarine City Market and the Konikoni City Incense merchant (in Pokemon Black, White, and Black 2; in Pokemon X and Y; in Pokemon Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, and Ultra Moon; and in Pokemon Z and XZ). This item allows the holder to search their deck for an evolution Pokemon, reveal it and put it into their hand, then shuffling their deck afterward. Additionally, this item slightly boosts the holder’s accuracy in battle and doubles prize money received from battles when held.

While a player can only hold one incense at a time, there are a few exceptions. The Sunsteel Strike and Moongeist Beam Adventure Effects each offer an incense-like effect that attracts specific Pokemon themed around the day or night. Also, the Mystery Box item attracts Meltan like incense does for a short period of time.

For those who are curious, each incense has a different effect when used in battle or as a given Pokemon’s held item during breeding at the Pokemon Day Care. For example, the Wave Incense item boosts the power of a Water-type move when used by a Mantine in battle and, when paired with a Ditto or a compatible parent, produces the Water/Flying-type Pokemon Mantyke. Additionally, the Azurill and Marill incense items offer their corresponding baby forms when used during breeding.
